BIM is coming...BIM has come...BIM has went beyond BIM

BIM is coming...


From year 2005, I am hearing that BIM is the future and when I go for BIM presentation in till today people say this is the future, but this is not the case anymore now.

Many consultants are enquiring us for BIM implementation, at least for the one project where it is mandated and they have to comply to the contract.

BIM has come....


The BIM is now no more in future, it is in present and it is around, many contractors and developers has started using BIM. There are various reasons for this, but it is certain that in the market where at each and every point, value for money is checked, BIM has made its presence.
For now almost everyone knows about BIM, some knows what is BIM, some wise are already fetching benefits of the BIM. For those who have not started to use BIM, this is now a good chance to upgrade themselves as the echo system has BIM models available to begin and work with. The excuse of other consultants are not using BIM is not valid today.

The BIM has went beyond the BIM.....



Furthermore as the BIM creates and provides a dynamically connected and organized data base, it is easy to read it programatically.
This opens a bigger avenues,
First, it can be added to instruments which are connected to satellites for GPS locations. With this site layouts can be carried out accurately, reducing the error and wastage of time and material and ultimately the cost. The construction progress can be captured and compare with the design BIM models for that date to check the accuracy and speed of the construction.
Second, the structured database can be sent on to cloud to utilize the power of cloud computing, Artificial intelligence & Machine learning and so on.
With power of cloud computing and AI , we can simulate the facility for various scenarios. For example for checking the cost of construction, response to hazards, Life cycle cost, and many more.
Third, the performance of the facility can be monitored and preventive maintenance can be carried out. Real-time information of the facility and its service providing elements, like supporting structure behavior, MEP equipment's behavior, and the occupants behavior can be captured. This real-time information can be analyzed for sudden change in behavior or if it is operating beyond normal levels, that will be informed to concern quick action team to avoid calamities.
